The Group

Finmeccanica and the Group companies occupy more than 200 properties in Italy, mainly industrial, covering a total surface area of 3.1 million m², of which 2.8 million owned by the companies. There are also 16 sites in the UK, covering more than 1 million m² , 179 US sites, 166 of which coming from the acquisition of DRS, for approximately 900,000 m² and 10 foreign representation offices.   

Finmeccanica Group Real Estate is the Finmeccanica Group Real Estate Company that handles the management, optimization, and valorization of real estate assets in an integrated manner, with reference to all administrative, technical-maintenance and environmental aspects.

In January 2007, the Company inherited from Mecfin the management and valorization of real estate assets and environment, health and safety activities, together with all the professional expertise acquired over time.

The new name coincided with the start of a growth and enlargement process of activities, which after the presentation of the new strategic plan during 2009, sped up considerably, culminating in July with the redefinition of the FGRE company mission by Finmeccanica and the start of a project for the transfer of resources to the companies that carry out real estate activities.

The Company, characterized by a central coordination nucleus and local offices in the sites managed, was assigned the task of implementing the direction, coordination and control at the Group level of specialized activity covering all matters related to real estate assets in use, with reference to the following four lines:

• Property Management for technical administrative management;
• Asset Management for rationalization and valorization;
• Engineering & Technical Management for the direct technical conduct of intervention plans;
• Environment Health & Safety for the integrated and systemic management of matters related to the protection of the environment and safeguarding health and safety in the workplace;

Still in 2009, coherent with the new objectives assigned by Finmeccanica, FGRE started a project for implementing the new Group real estate asset management information system, in addition to the process of the progressive detachment from FGS.
