Sustainability Report

Rome, 16.07.2010

Finmeccanica’s emphasis on questions of sustainability is one of the hinge pins of the company’s business culture. It has often been considered an implicit part of that culture, and for this reason we were not the first to feel the need for public display.

However, over recent years there has been a considerable increase in the number of people who request us for further information on our non-financial performance, on what we do to protect our staff, the environment and the communities in which we work, as well as to guarantee the economic sustainability of our business by investing in research, development and innovation.

Providing details of these activities means making this emphasis transparent and giving it explicit form.  For this reason, we take time every year to summarise the state of our environmental and social performance, setting down all the information we consider to be significant in a Sustainability Report.

This type of document is relatively new on the international business scene, but is rapidly becoming a consolidated practice, regulated by standards of content and process that we have decided to refer to in order to guarantee the reliability and recognition of the data provided.

Publication of a Sustainability Report is not compulsory. The decision to do so is a sign that we care for all our stakeholders.  Our hope is that this effort will be recognised, and that the contents of the Sustainability Report will gradually become a source of comparison and debate for all the stakeholders with whom we deal.
