Ansaldo Energia wins contracts worth EUR 60 million in Finland and Albania
Ansaldo Energia, a Finmeccanica subsidiary and a leader in the supply of components and services
for power generation plants, has won two important contracts in Europe, worth a total of EUR 60
million.
In Finland, Ansaldo Energia beat off major international companies to win the order to provide a V94.2
gas turbine, including a generator and auxiliary systems, for the 235 MW combined cycle power
station in Espoo, an industrial town near Helsinki. The client is Fortum, a Finnish national utility
company that also operates in Russia and throughout the Baltic region. This is Ansaldo Energia’s first
order in Finland, and has enabled the company to penetrate a market already populated with a
number of established operators, paving the way for new opportunities in future.
In Albania, Ansaldo Energia will supply the Italian main contractor MAIRE Engineering with a state-ofthe-
art V64.3A gas turbine and a steam turbine including generator for the 100 MW combined cycle
plant in Vlore (Valona). This is the first plant of this kind ordered by the end client, the Albanian
electricity company KESH. For this contract, Ansaldo Energia was bidding against its big name rivals
Siemens, General Electric and BHEL. The project is being financed by the World Bank, the European
Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank.
Ansaldo Energia will also be carrying out maintenance for both contracts.
These contracts confirm Ansaldo Energia’s status as one of the most effective and reliable suppliers at
international level, and its ability to achieve success in highly competitive environments such as the
European market.
