Finmeccanica wins contracts worth approximately EUR 380 million
Finmeccanica has won contracts with a total value of approximately EUR 380 million through his companies Ansaldo Energia, Alenia Aeronautica, SELEX Sistemi Integrati and SELEX Galileo.
Specifically, Ansaldo Energia has won four orders with a combined value of EUR 290 million.
The first order, worth around EUR 150 million, relates to the supply of equipment and spare parts for an 800 MW combined cycle plant in a Mediterranean Area country.
The second order, worth EUR 60 million, is a long-term service agreement (LTSA) with Premier Power Limited, a company owned by the BG Group, which is a world leader in the natural gas sector and operates the Ballylumford Power Station in Northern Ireland. The contract covers for the next nine years the supply of spare parts and the performance of maintenance activities on the power station.
The third order, worth EUR 40 million, is an LTSA signed with the Dubai Water and Electricity Authority. Under the contract, Ansaldo Energia will supply for the next ten years spare parts and perform maintenance activities on the AE94.2 gas turbines at the Jebel Ali (UAE) combined cycle power plant. The contract also provides for implementations and other services that can be activated at the customer’s request and which could eventually increase the value of the contract by a further 30%.
The fourth order, worth EUR 40 million, relates to the construction of two ground photovoltaic installations of around 5.5 MW each in Soleto and Martano, in the province of Lecce (Italy). This investment follows on from an agreement signed by Ansaldo Energia and Holding FotoVoltaica (HFV) SpA, a joint venture between Fondo Italiano per le Infrastrutture (F2i) and the Portuguese fund Novenergia specialising in investments in photovoltaic technology.
Alenia Aeronautica has signed a five-year contract worth EUR 45 million with the Italian Air Force for the provision of technical and logistical support to its fleet of C-130J transport aircraft.
SELEX Sistemi Integrati has signed two contracts worth about EUR 15 million with UkSATSE, the Ukrainian state air traffic control company, in the run up to the European football championships, which will take place in Ukraine in 2012.
The first contract, worth EUR 10 million, is for modernisation of Kiev airport, Ukraine’s main hub. Under the agreement, functions and performance will be improved, both as regards hardware and as regards software, in the Kiev air traffic control centre, known as “Strela” – originally built by SELEX Sistemi Integrati in the mid-1990s.
The second contract, worth about EUR 5 million, is for the supply – through the German subsidiary SELEX Systems Integration GmbH – of three Meteor class meteorological radar systems (with a 400- kilometre range) for the regions of Lvov, Kharkov, and Simferopol.
SELEX Galileo has signed a contract worth more than EUR 30 million with Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL), to supply the Passive Hydrogen MASER (PHM), the atomic clock that will be installed on board 14 satellites in the Galileo satellite navigation system – a programme funded by the European Union.
