SAMP/T SYSTEM (Aster 30)

ASTER 30 SAMP/T is an unmatched anti-air mobile defence weapon of the 21st century for theatre protection. It protects sensitive sites and mobiler forces against missile threats (TBM, stand off, cruise missiles, ARM) and aircraft.

The ASTER 30 SAMP/T system is designed to meet medium and long range air defence needs (force projection, protection of high-value assets and area protection), including self defence. It can operate in stand-alone mode or be integrated within a co-ordinated network.

The system comprises:

• A fire control system based on the Arabel multi-function electronic scanning radar and an engagement module
•  Up to six vertical launchers, with each module containing eight ready-to-fire Aster 30 missiles

ASTER 30 missile 

In addition to its 360º defence capabilities, the ASTER 30 SAMP/T system is highly automated and features extremely quick response times, high rate of fire (8 missiles in 10 seconds from each launcher), engagement of up to 10 targets simultaneously, high built-in test capability and a streamlined crew requirement (only two people are needed to operate the system). 

It also meets demanding strategic and tactical mobility requirements.

SAAM-IT(Surface-to-Air Anti-Missile) (Aster 15)

• Anti-missile and anti-aircraft missile for ship self-defence and protection of nearby vessels, notably against sea-skimming anti-ship missiles.
• Unique combination of aerodynamic and direct thrust vector control.
• Development in co-operation between France and Italy (FSAF contracts).
• In service with the French Navy on the "Charles de Gaulle" aircraft carrier, with the Italian Navy on the "Conti de Cavour" aircraft carrier and with the Royal Saudi Arabian navy on its SAWARI II frigates.

PAAMS(Principal Anti-Air Missile System) (Aster 15/Aster 30) 

Principal Anti-Air Missile System. Advanced air defence system able to integrate the following three missions:

• SELF-DEFENCE
• LOCAL AREA DEFENCE of nearby vessels
• FLEET AREA DEFENCE

System based on Aster 15 and Aster 30 missiles, conceived from the outset as an anti-missile weapon system and integrating the anti-aircraft and anti-missille functions. 

Unique combination of aerodynamic and direct thrust vector control. 

Ordered to equip : Royal Navy Type 45 destroyers, French HORIZON and Italian ORIZZONTE frigates.
