Sustainability Report
The Sustainability Report, for which Finmeccanica recently published the edition relating to 2011, represents a truly important moment for corporate development and for the creation of value. Today it is the main means of informing stakeholders on extra-financial performance, on environmental, business ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) questions.
It is a voluntary document, drawn up based on GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) guidelines, the most widely used at international level. Like the Consolidated Financial Statement, it is subject to verification by independent auditors, with an auditing perimeter that was increased in 2011 to fifteen sites, confirming the progress achieved and the programs in force in various essential areas, that can provide stakeholders with a proper and transparent perception of the Group as a carrier of virtuous, responsible and sustainable forms of behaviour that may not have been fully analysed yet.
The Report confirmed a GRI guidelines application level of B+ for 2011.
We have thus worked to improve the quality and quantity of data and information on our performance and on what we are doing to protect our employees, the environment and the communities in which we operate, as well as to guarantee the economic sustainability of our corporation by investing in research, development and innovation.
The structure of the Report has also been renewed. To the consolidated section, which deals with questions of sustainability and the indicators that are watched at Group level, has been added a section with in depth information dedicated to each business sector. In this way it has been possible to give a better view of the specific features and considerable heritage of experiences and initiatives that make Finmeccanica a unique company in this field also.
