Founded in 1947, Alenia Aeronavali has grown with the Finmeccanica aerospace business ever since its acquisition by Aeritalia in 1981. From 2001, when Finmeccanica spun off its separate businesses, the company is co-ordinated by Alenia Aeronautica.
