Alenia Aeronautica participates as risk sharing partner in the realisation of the 787 Dreamliner, the new Boeing commercial aircraft for the middle of the market. It will be the most advanced airliner in its class setting new standards for airlines efficiency.
Thanks to its experience in advanced materials and manufacturing and assembly techniques Alenia Aeronautica will develop and manufacture two sections of the center-rear fuselage and the horizontal stabiliser for the B787. In the new facility of Grottaglie (near Taranto) will be accomodated an innovative automated line for the fabrication and assembly of the two fuselage sections, built as "one-piece"380 barrels.
Alenia Aeronautica, in the frame of the B787 program, is building with Vought a pre-integration facility in Charleston (South Carolina, US) for the assembly of the fuselage sections.
