Peripheral, mobile system for fingerprint collection
PSS is a mobile device specifically developed for Police use, and allows personal identification and communication between patrols and operational centres. PSS consists of a hand-held computer (encased in a shock resistant, waterproof protective shell) integrated with a biometric fingerprint detector, smart card reader, a micro-camera, a Global Positioning System device, a GSM/GPRS module, an additional spare battery for prolonged system autonomy and a memory expansion Secure Digital from 512 MByte to 1 GByte.
A functionality of authorized operators identification is available on PSS thanks to a comparison between a live fingerprint with one previously stored into an identification smart card. The same functionality, with no telematic connection to any data base, is available for E.I.C. (Electronic Identity Card) owners.
