Through its Signalling and Transport Systems business units, Ansaldo STS designs, manufactures, manages and maintains both railway/subway signalling and monitoring systems and turn key metropolitan and rail systems.

Ansaldo STS is headquarted in Genova and is present in 18 countries with a total workforce of 3,600. Its 2005 turnover reached 840 million euro, with 89 million operating profits and 44 million net profits.

Ansaldo STS controls Ansaldo Signal N.V., a Dutch holding company that operates in the rail and subway signalling businesses, and Ansaldo Trasporti - Sistemi Ferroviari SpA, an Italian systems and technology integration company supplying turn key metropolitan and railway systems.
