The COSMO-SkyMed satellite constellation is a low-orbit dual-use Earth observation satellite system operating in the X-band.
Funded by the Italian Ministry of Research and Ministry of Defence the programme is managed by the Italian Space Agency and will exploit the most advanced remote sensing technology with the four SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellites and a complex and geographically distributed Ground Segment.
Thales Alenia Space as prime contractor is responsible for the development of the whole constellation.
