Galileo is Europe's major programme for satellite navigation, providing a highly accurate, guaranteed global positioning service under civilian control with multi-mode coverage.
The first experimental satellite will be launched at the end of 2005. As a shareholder in Galileo Industries, Thales Alenia Space will play a major role in the management and system design engineering and procurement.
The company is responsible for all the aspects of validating and certifying the entire system and will integrate all the 30 satellites of the constellation.
