Finmeccanica Energy Day, held on 27 October 2008, focused on ways of saving
energy, and involved all employees as well as managers and site operators at
Finmeccanica offices and plants. Finmeccanica's close attention to technological excellence for its core business fits in well with the efforts the Group is making to support a sustainable environment. The date coincided with the changeover from daylight-saving time to solar time, which Italy adopted in 1966 to cut down on energy consumption by reducing the use of electric lighting. Finmeccanica Energy Day forms part of a long-term energy saving programme started up through Finmeccanica Group Services in 2005, involving energy check-ups and plant modifications aimed at containing energy consumption, using the best technologies available. Sharing the experiences gained throughout the Group led to the idea of a day wholly devoted to energy saving. Finmeccanica Energy Day, supported by the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of the Environment, the FIRE organisation and ENEA (Energy & Environment Agency), in close collaboration with Finmeccanica Group Services and Energy Managers of companies, and with the support of various organisations in the sector, was focused on the control, reduction and saving of energy whose outcome - reducing consumption compared to the long-term average - measured by monitoring systems that are installed in nearly all the plants. As witness of Finmeccanica's active participation in the social field, part of the savings obtained through Energy Day has been donated to a solidarity project. ![]()
