Finmeccanica is sponsoring the exhibition "Renoir: from classical to modern maturity" being held at the Victor Emmanuel gallery in Rome from March 8 to June 29, 2008.
 
The Group's presence at the event is a sign of the close ties between science, culture and innovation, in the knowledge that art and technology are closely linked in the modern world.
 
Finmeccanica makes a point of combining its industrial commitments with strong support for cultural activities, as shown by its involvement in the restoration of the Bronzes of Riace and the complex of Santa Maria della Pace, as well as sponsorship of the shows, "Chagall of the Marvels" and "Renaissance Engineers: Brunelleschi and Leonardo da Vinci".
 
The latter, which was seen in Paris, Florence, New York, London and Tokyo, illustrated Italy's technological prowess through a fascinating overview of Renaissance machines and engineering.

The current Renoir exhibition is promoted by the Cultural Heritage Ministry, the Rome city council and the Lazio regional authority, under the patronage of the President of the Republic. It consists of about 130 works including oil paintings, works on paper, and sculptures, on loan from leading museums and private collections around the world. Together they document Renoir's personal and artistic career that lasted forty years, highlighting the relationship between the French maestro and Italy.
