"Le Vie Francigene del Sud" project gets underway | |

On July 4, Naples was the setting for the conference entitled Le Vie
Francigene del Sud sponsored by Finmeccanica and "Banco di Napoli". The
conference marked the start of the project by the same name which sets out to
rediscover the traditional itineraries used by pilgrims from the late Middle
Ages onwards, linking the most important shrines in Christendom.
The project forms part of the many cultural initiatives to celebrate
Finmeccanica's sixtieth anniversary. Its aim is to revive the memory of these
pilgrim routes and to encourage people to explore them, thus reinforcing the
links between culture and tourism while involving local communities in Lazio,
Campania and Puglia.
