Finmeccanica at the Paris Air Show 2007

18.6 - 24.06.2007

Le Bourget

Finmeccanica will be taking part in the biennial ParisAir Show - Le Bourget from June 18th to 24th.

The Paris Air Show held at Le Bourget airport, alternating every other year with the Farnborough Air Show in the UK, is an opportunity for the main operators in the international aerospace and defence industry to show their products to the market and come together with their peers. These showcase occasions represent a time when the spotlight is trained for an entire week on a group's cutting-edge products as well as its own identity. Moreover, besides representing an important business event, the Paris and Farnborough air shows provide a public stage where the strength, consistency and overall credibility of the main players in a strategic industrial sector are displayed.

This is why Finmeccanica pays special attention to the content, messages and style it adopts for these important public appearances. It is also why it has been trying for some years now to take the opportunity presented by Le Bourget and Farnborough to give visibility to its growth process. Three years ago, at Le Bourget, the show was used to project the image of a group that was achieving integration. Last year, at Farnborough, a clear association was made between a strong symbol and a clear offer, with these elements closely intertwined. The symbol was the new brand, common to all group companies, and the clear offer was the ability of these firms to deliver integrated security and defence systems, an expression of the combined expertise stemming from the interaction of complementary skills.

The 2007 Paris Air show is a further step forward along Finmeccanica's growth path. The group has decided to associate the products and systems that are at the heart of its competitiveness with the presentation of the priorities and values that guide its actions and will drive its future growth.
Lo stand parigino propone infatti al visitatore un percorso a raggiera, che cosė si sintetizza, in una visita ideale dalla periferia al centroThe stand in Paris is set up as a wheel whereby visitors can explore along individual spokes, proceeding ideally from the rim to the hub:
  • Five "segments" are dedicated respectively to Aeronautics, Helicopters, Homeland Security, Space and, lastly, "Thorough Life Cycle Support", which refers to the group's ability to provide its customers with services throughout the lifetime of a product or system, encompassing training, support and logistics.
  • Each of the four areas converges towards a visual totem (set of words and images) devoted to the group's guiding values. In the Aeronautics area there is a totem on Competence , since this is what has enabled our aircraft companies to access new markets and to establish partnerships with major industry players worldwide. In the Defence Electronics area there is a totem on Security, which is made possible by the group's protection and defence systems, as electronics is their "central nervous system". The Space area has a Research totem. Space is emblematic of Research, as it represents an arena for the most advanced and futuristic ideas. Lastly, in the "Thorough Life Cycle Support" area, the focus is on People, since it is the talent of the people who work in the group that produces answers to the difficult questions posed by the other human beings at the centre of Finmeccanica's attention - the customers.
The notions of Expertise, Security, Research and attention to Man are, of course, universal. Their particular location can be attributed solely to the need to link them, visually and physically, to examples that more than anything are symbolic of their specific nature.
  • At the stand's hub, where all the "spokes" meet, there is a big column that uses the images of the new Finmeccanica advertising. campaign to summarise the group's messages and the commitments it intends to pursue. This is a advertising campaign showing gestures and expressions. The faces all belong to direct or indirect users of Finmeccanica technologies. The headline above these photos is: The future is the Question. Knowlegde is the answer. In other words, Finmeccanica creates, produces and supports technologies that address the essential questions of man, from security to rapidity, from reliability to knowledge, from mobility to progress.
Finally, the static area allows visitors a close view of several important group products, the embodiment of the know-how that the stand as a whole aims to symbolise.

Overall, Finmeccanica's presence at the Paris Air Show outlines the profile of a group that within the space of a few years has transformed itself from a holding company into an international industrial leader. Naturally, leadership is not achieved solely by manufacturing high-technology products, but by becoming an innovative force, a centre of expertise and a socially responsible enterprise.

From the first to the last day, Finmeccanica's presence at the Airshow will be recounted via a dedicated website at the following address:
