China's strong economic growth and the consequent importance the country has
gained on the global market, is an established fact. One of the results is the
growing interest in Airshow China, the main Chinese aerospace exhibition
and the only one backed by the central government.
The seventh edition was held from November 4-9 at the China
International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition Center at the
Zhuhai airport, Guangdong province. The success of the event can be seen
from the 2006 figures (the show takes place every two years): 550 exhibitors,
90,000 trade visitors and several hundred thousand members of the general
public.
As in previous editions, the first three days were given over to business
and trade, while the remaining days were open to the public. The 2008 edition
was marked by the massive presence of the Chinese aerospace industry, as well
as participation by AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company. The Group's
helicopter company displayed a number of rotary wing aircraft for civil use
such as the AW119 Ke, the CA109 Power, the Grand EMS and the AW101 VIP.
