Over the years, the 2,810 companies from 55 countries which have taken part in Defendory testify to the long tradition and the international scope of an event devoted to the defence world as the name suggests, combined with the geo-strategic location - Greece - situated at the meeting point of three continents.
 
More than 30,000 professional visitors, plus more than 50 international delegations, are expected for the fifteenth edition, Defendory 2008, now being held at the former Athens airport from October 7-11, focusing on land, sea and air defence, with electronics as a required, across-the-board, complement.
 
Finmeccanica's presence at Defendory 2008 is particularly strong. The multi-sector approach, together with the ability to offer integrated solutions, is one of the Group's strong points, and this event in Athens provides an opportunity to show the level of technological achievement, sector by sector, through products and systems.
 
The Finmeccanica Group's presence at Defendory consists of a display area of more than 500 square metres involving AgustaWestland, Alenia Aermacchi, Alenia Aeronautica, Oto Melara, SELEX Communications and SELEX Sistemi Integrati, as well as Orizzonte Sistemi Navali, a naval engineering firm set up as a joint venture with Fincantieri.
 
This participation demonstrates a wide-ranging approach which includes handling systems for maritime traffic to solutions regarding search & rescue operations, as well as aircraft and tactical transport training. These are just examples of the range of products and services designed to meet the needs of the global defence market.
