Finmeccanica at the Japan International Aerospace Exhibition 2008

01.10 - 05.10.2008

Yokohama

The Japan International Aerospace Exhibition takes place every four years, and the previous edition in 2004 was attended by about 110,000 visitors. This year's event will be held in Yokohama from 1-5 October 2008 with about 529 exhibitors covering a display area of more than 20,000 square metres, including a heliport. Given the importance of the exhibition, there will be a strong Finmeccanica presence including not only the parent company but also AgustaWestland, Alenia Aeronautica, Oto Melara and Thales Alenia Space.

The main reason for this strong participation, with a large stand of 360 sqm, is the importance of developing the Group's positioning in Japan. Excellent result have already been achieved in various fields (such as helicopters, satellites, defence systems). Moreover, during 2009, Finmeccanica will be setting up a corporate office in Japan.

Finmeccanica's name is becoming increasingly well-known on the Japanese market especially after the recent high-profile event Italian Spring in Japan. Against this background, the Group's strategic objectives for participation at Japan Aerospace 2008 include raising awareness of its integration and wide range of products.

The five-day event (which includes a weekend open to the general public) will also be an occasion to take a close look at Japanese industries in the field, with a view to setting up joint industrial and technological collaboration in that area.

Products on display - showing the Group's all-round capability - will range from the Eurofighter to Earth observation systems, to give just two examples. During the event, Finmeccanica will also be giving two major presentations - one focusing on "Technological excellence and global capability", clearly involving the whole Group; the other, organised by AgustaWestland, dealing with the twin-engine helicopter AW139 and its many uses in the field of public services.
