19.2 - 24.02.2008 Singapore From 19 to 24 February Finmeccanica will be at the Singapore Airshow 2008, presenting its Force Multiplier technological solutions. Finmeccanica operates in Singapore via a representative office, and has been present and active in the country for a number of years, with its companies supplying radar systems, naval armaments and electronic warfare systems. In addition, in June 2007 Finmeccanica signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore's Defence Science Technology Agency (DSTA), covering joint Research and Development in the aerospace and defence sectors. At present, the most attractive opportunity relates to the Fighter Wings Course (FWC) programme, for which Alenia Aermacchi is proposing the advanced M-346 trainer aircraft, which has impressed air forces all over the world. It has also been chosen by the Italian Air Force as its trainer aircraft for the foreseeable future. The Force Multiplier programmes include the systems and solutions presented by SELEX Communications for the "Soldato Futuro" programme and for secure telecommunications systems. There are further opportunities in the naval sector, where Galileo Avionica (which together with SELEX Sensors & Airborne Systems will be operating via the sole brand SELEX Galileo from 1 January 2008) is offering LPI (Low Probability of Intercept) navigation radar for installation on submarines. SELEX Sistemi Integrati, which has previously supplied Air Traffic Management systems to Singapore and many other countries in the region, is currently bidding to supply ATC radar systems. In the space sector, meanwhile, Telespazio is implementing a process aimed at promoting the supply of remote sensing services via the Cosmo-Skymed system. Over the years, the Singapore Airshow has taken on an increasingly bigger role, becoming a reference point in the aerospace and defence sector for the entire South-East Asia region. Finmeccanica has a significant presence at the event, which is an opportunity to showcase the Group's capabilities in all the countries in the region. Various countries have already shown an interest, for example in Alenia Aeronautica's C-27J tactical transport aircraft, the winner of the Joint Cargo Aircraft contract for the US Air Force and Army. Orders for this aircraft have already been received from Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Romania. Lastly, the numerous successes of ATR (a 50-50 joint venture between Alenia Aeronautica and EADS) and AgustaWestland bear witness to the importance the Group attributes to the area, and could open the way towards new contracts in regional turboprop aircraft and helicopters, both civil and military. .pdf
