This year Finmeccanica one again took part in one of the most important international events regarding defence and security, the Defence Systems& Equipment International Exhibition and Conference (DSEI), held at the ExCeL centre in London.

The exhibition was held from September 8-11, and the companies involved were able to make contact with delegations from around the world, providing an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and experience, forming a basis for further growth in this market.

The DSEI represents an excellent opportunity to show the results of the investments which Finmeccanica is making in the UK - now at the level of more than 10,000 employees - as well as the development of cutting-edge systems and technologies, especially in the military field.

Among the more than 1,350 exhibitors from 40 countries, the Finmeccanica stand hosted the following Group companies: AgustaWestland, DRS Technologies, Elsag Datamat, Oto Melara, SELEX Communications, SELEX Galileo, and SELEX Sistemi Integrati/SELEX Systems Integration/VEGA.

The Finmeccanica stand displayed some of the innovative technologies, giving the many visitors and more than 100 official delegations an overview of integrated solutions for national defence and security, used in the protection of ports, airports and railways, as well as border control.


Among the important visitors to the Group's stand were: Giuseppe Valotto, Italian Army Chief-of-Staff; Quentin Davies, UK Minister for Defence Equipment and Support; and Turkey's Defence Minister Mehmet Vecdi Gönül.

During the event, Finmeccanica held a reception on September 9 on board the Royal Navy frigate HMS Somerset, attended by Admiral Lord Alan West, Baron of Spithead, undersecretary for defence and antiterrorism and security advisor to the Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
