The 58th edition of the IAPT exhibition, held very two years, organised by the International Association of Public Transport took place in Vienna, June 8-11.
 
The Finmeccanica stand displayed innovative technologies put forward by AnsaldoBreda, Ansaldo STS, BredaMenarinibus and Elsag Datamat, regarding trams, minibuses with zero emission, and "driverless" metro trains, as well as security systems and equipment for handling and monitoring public transport and rail traffic.
 
The exhibition and associated conferences were an important occasion for meetings between public transport operators, authorities and industries, encouraging the exchange of ideas, best practices and experiences regarding all aspects of public transport, such as financing, technological innovation, management and marketing.
 
The previous edition, held in Helsinki (Finland) 2007, had nearly 4,000 visitors, more than 2,000 delegations and 277 exhibitors, with a total of more than 9,000 accesses, showing the growing importance of public transport in the process of urbanization and civilization, also in terms of sustainable development and climate change.
