Finmeccanica supports the first edition of the EU
Sustainable Energy
Week, promoted by the European Commission (
http://www.eusew.eu), from January 29 to February 2, 2007.
The
Finmeccanica Group adopts a policy of optimising energy resources
not only to contain expenses but also to minimize the negative effects on the
environment.
Management of energy requirements to operate the Group's production plant and
supply the factories and offices is handled by a central coordinating unit of
Finmeccanica Group Services. Working closely with the companies, the
unit operates in two main fields:
- Energy Supply: centralised negotiation of electricity and gas supply
contracts for all users in the Group, also evaluating options of internal
production using traditional and renewable resources;
- Energy Demand: identifying actions to improve the efficiency of plant and
procedures with the aim of optimising consumption and rationalizing energy
demand.
The aim is to set up a
virtual cycle which is able to convert and
redirect the savings arising from the Group's bargaining power (discounted
energy prices) into structural investments designed to reduce consumption,
leading to long-term benefits.
Below it is available the interview with Mattia Cavanna, head of energy and
global services for Finmeccanica Group Services, which was broadcast on 2
December 2006 during the programme "Vai col vento" (Go with the wind)
on RAI Radio 3.
